Why is the QAL the best option for classroom doors?
The QAL is the fastest and safest way to lockdown a classroom. Designed to meet Department of Homeland Security Primer recommendations, the QAL deadbolt protection is compliant with all life safety and building codes and can be locked in an instant by simply pressing the red button. With student safety in mind, the door can be unlocked from the outside by simply using the key. The QAL is affordable and far less than electronic key card locks that were designed for commercial applications and not for educational facilities.
Why does evidence-based training curriculum matter?
Evidenced based curriculum is of paramount importance when dealing with the safety and welfare of students or employees who may be faced with an active shooter situation. Everyone deserves a safe school or work environment and the best available security policies and strategies. When lives are at stake the necessary training is far too valuable to leave to chance, opinion and or practices that are unproven. When considering security training programs, ONLY those who can substantiate being evidence based and designed on best practices should be considered.
What is a CEU and is it important?
CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. A continuing education unit (CEU) is a measure used in continuing education programs, particularly those required in a licensed profession, for the professional to maintain the license. Examples of people who need CEUs include teachers, school administrators, architects, emergency management professionals, educators, nurses, mental health professionals, and social workers. Generally, a CEU is defined as ten hours of participation in a recognized continuing education program, with qualified instruction and sponsorship. CEU records are widely used to provide evidence of completion of continuing education requirements mandated by certification bodies, professional societies, or governmental licensing boards. The records also provide employers with information on training pertinent to particular occupations. SSI Guardian is the ONLY Advanced Safety Education Training program offering an accredited CEU. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are all CEUs equal?
No they are not. Many companies offer “CEU’s” in a variety of courses outside of active shooter upon completion of their program. Unfortunately, their “CEU’s” are either self-issued or from a fee for certification company. In either case, because they have not adhered to national accreditation standards, there is sometimes a distrust of the value of such CEU’s and an employer or other organization must decide on an individual basis whether to honor them. In contrast, SSI Guardian CEU’s are issued via certified transcript by North Carolina State University, a fully accredited member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate levels. This accreditation provides public assurance that SSI Guardian instruction meets the highest academic standards in both curriculum and instruction. SSI Guardian is the ONLY Advanced Safety Education Training program offering an accredited CEU.
How will NAR Crisis Response Kits make my school safer?
We are all immediate responders during a crisis situation, and what we do before first responders arrive can save lives. But in the case of life threatening hemorrhaging, our actions must be supported by the appropriate products, and that is precisely what NAR (North American Rescue) bleeding control kits and stations are designed to do. Accidents happen in schools, and when they do, schools must be prepared. For more than 20 years NAR products have helped save lives on the battlefield and that same level of quality is now available for schools.

What should I be looking for when selecting a training program?
This may be the most important decision that a school administrator or executive ever make. The safety and wellbeing of children, students and employees should be taken very seriously. Regardless of the service or solution being offered, key factors such as evidence base curriculum, CEU award, security best practices, instructor credentials, customizable components and the organization’s liability coverage should all be required criteria when selecting a program.

What is the SSI Guardian Instructor Academy?
The SSI Guardian Instructor Academy is a rigorous professional training course that all instructors are required to successfully complete. The Academy further hones and develops presentation skills and teaching techniques to ensure the highest level of quality and content continuity is delivered.
Our instructor cadre is comprised of some of America’s most qualified security experts holding extensive backgrounds in protective security and institutional training. These individuals are hand selected and have dedicated their careers to protecting the lives of others such as US Presidents, high ranking government officials, corporate executives and Hollywood mega stars. Please check out individual bios on Our Team page.
Does SSI Guardian offer a “Train the Trainer” option?
Given the critical nature of Advanced Safety Education Training, SSI Guardian does not subscribe to the train the train model as we believe our children and educators deserve the same level of expertise and instruction that is afforded to our government officials, industry leaders and Hollywood mega stars. Expecting individuals without security backgrounds to become security experts after one course is not a reasonable expectation. SSI Guardian empowers school administrators, teachers and staff how to be more cognizant and aware of security matters and threat indicators. We prepare them to develop effective crisis plans and mitigation strategies that they can instill in their students. Train the trainer does not work.
