If you see something suspicious or out of place, contact your local law enforcement immediately!
When talking to the dispatcher be prepared to describe, as specifically as you can, what you saw. Make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
- Who or what you saw. If it was a person, what were they wearing, where they alone, did they have any significant identifying mark like a tattoo or scar? Be prepared to give the same information for a suspicious package or item.
- When you saw it. Make sure to tell them, as closely as you can, the timeline for your encounter with the thing or person you saw to help law enforcement establish a timeline.
- Where it occurred. If it happened while you were on the move make sure to give the starting point and the ending point of what concerned you.
- Why it’s suspicious. As best you can explain why the person, item or incident seemed out of place and what made you pick up the phone.
If you think the event is truly an emergency, call 9–1–1 immediately.
