On the morning of Friday, October 24th a shooter opened fire inside of a high school cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High in Marysville, Washington a town 45 minutes outside of Seattle.. Police identified the shooter as 14-year-old freshman student, Jaylen Fryberg. The shooting left five dead, including the attacked who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Everyone just started running. I could hear the gunshots and my heart was racing and we didn’t know what was going on.” student Adam Holston said, the Times reported.
Police confirmed one of the victims, Zoe Galasso, 14, was killed during the shooting, Gia Soriano, 14, died two days later at Providence Regional Medical Center, victim Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, died Oct. 31 at the Everett hospital and Andrew Fryberg, 15, died from his wounds November 7th at Harborview Medical Center. He was the last wounded student still hospitalized.
On November 6, 14-year-old student, Nate Hatch was released from Harborview. He had been shot in the jaw.
According to the Associated Press, Andrew Fryberg and Nate Hatch were cousins of the attacker, Jaylen Fryberg.
This was the second shooting at a school in the region this year. In June, a gunman opened fire on the campus of Seattle Pacific University, killing one person and injuring three others.
